Miles and Barr is one of the leading estate agents in the South East, with 14 branches along the Kent coastline. We were delighted to have hit it off with the agency’s management team at the initial pitch, and were thrilled to have been given the opportunity to take their brand to another level online. Miles & Barr have a refreshing brand, which already had a fantastic offline presence, and we were able to build upon this with a new website design.

Having agreed a detailed ‘feature rich’ specification, we started off by having a comprehensive scoping & discovery stage, which included company wide questionnaires, researching Miles & Barr products and services, one on one sessions with key stakeholders, understanding the different business needs, reviewing competitors and learning more about the areas in which they operate.

Following the discovery stage and inspired by the Miles & Barr brand, our web design team came up with some amazing bespoke features and ideas that make the website truly stand out and engage users. Among them:

  • Outstanding imagery of all the areas local to Miles & Barr, captured by a professional photographer specifically for the website. This high impact photography created an instant wow factor, encouraging clients browsing the website to contact the nearest Miles & Barr office.
  • The split screen search, a brilliant bespoke feature for an estate agent website that presents property listings next to a map. This offers a quick reveal of each property and a clearer insight into location and the overall vicinity. Seeing the volume of property across all their areas also calls attention to Miles & Barr position as industry leaders with at least a 50% share of all available property on the market.
  • A primary navigation presenting the key Miles & Barr services clearly and consistently, and offering the ability to dive deep for more detailed information via a secondary navigation, without overwhelming the use.
  • Extremely user-friendly forms: as with all estate agents, winning new instructions is always the biggest KPI, followed by data capture points that could lead to a communication with existing or potential clients.
  • The integrated ‘instant valuation’ tool for users who want to get a rough idea on the spot of how much their property is worth. All leads are captured, tracked and presented on our data dashboard, which frequently reveals further valuable insights.

Results

The new Miles & Barr website created a lot of buzz locally from the day it went live; one of the metrics to support that is the 14% increase in overall traffic in the first month after launch. It also helped the company prepare and secure their online growth on the long term. The new responsive website became a steady stream of mobile users (with mobile traffic increasing by 30% in the first 30 days after launch) and a major source of leads for the business (with x2 times more leads captured through the website than the previous website in the first 3 months after launch).
